Ingredients

  • 2 yellow onions, quartered
  • 2 (4 ounce) links chorizo sausage, casings removed
  • 1 green bell pepper, quartered and seeded
  • 6 cloves clove garlic
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup Italian-style bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 dash ground cumin
  • sea salt to taste
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, or as needed
  • 12 hamburger buns, split
  • 1 (9 ounce) can shoestring potatoes (such as Pik-Nik®)

Cooking Directions

  1. Place yellow onions, chorizo, green bell pepper, and garlic in a food processor; pulse until minced.
  2. Transfer onion mixture to a large bowl. Add ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, eggs, ketchup, cumin, salt, and black pepper; mix with your hands until well-blended.
  3. Form mixture into 12 patties.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook patties in batches until browned and medium well done, about 5 minutes per side.
  5. Serve cooked patties on hamburger buns topped with shoestring potatoes.
This recipe makes great sliders (it'll make 24). And you won't be able to eat just one if you make them into slider size!; If you can't find shoestring potatoes, grate potatoes and fry them in vegetable or canola oil.
